Alaska's Department of Revenue holds approximately $200 million in unclaimed property — money owed to current and former Alaska residents, oil-industry contractors who rotated through the state, seasonal fishery workers, and former military personnel. Because Alaska has one of the most transient workforces in the country, a significant share of unclaimed property is owed to people who no longer live in the state.
